The city of Parma organizes an annual festival to celebrate its most distinguished son, Giuseppe Verdi. For almost a month, operas, concerts and conferences highlight the greatest figure in the Italian music theatre.
Verdi’s final opera, Falstaff, was performed in the ornately decorated 1000-seater opera house that dates back to the first half of the 19th century. Parma’s Teatro Regio is considered to be the true representative of the Italian operatic tradition and is home to fearsome loggionisti – enthusiasts who consider themselves the custodians of Verdi’s legacy…
